Born in Indiana on June 15, 1932.

1946-1950

Graduated from Arlington Heights High School

1954

Received his B.S. in Secondary Education from Illinois State University at Normal

1954-1956

Served in Army in Korea - Counter Intelligence Corps

1956 - 1960

Coached debate and taught communication at Arlington Heights High School.

1961

Received M.A. from Northwestern University in Speech & Communication

1960 - 1962

Coached debate and taught speech and communication at Delmar High School in San Jose.

1962 - 1964

Completed his Ph.D at Northwestern University

1965 - 1971

Assistant Professor at Univerisity of Minnesota
Coached Debate and Taught Speech & Communication

1971 - 1997

Professor in Speech, Communication and Rhetorical Theory at Wayne State University. Also constantly bending everyone's ear about Kenneth Burke. He even got to teach Burke seminars.

1997 - 2006

Emeritus Professor at Wayne State University.

Also Team Teaching with Shea Howell at Oakland University.

2006

Passed away on March 31, 2006 at the age of 73.
